Can I carry-on on my laptop, purse, and digital camera on an airplane?
“Per TSA regulations, carryon items are limited to one bag plus one smaller, personal-type item.”
I want to bring my laptop 15.4″, which is in a sleeve style carry case, my purse which is 14 1/2″W X 12″H, and my digital camera, which has a small 5″ wide case but can be put away in my purse, and the camera itself is only 4″ wide.
I was reading online where it says purses and cameras are considered personal items, but is that referring to the bigger professional cameras that come in large bags? Is it still considered a personal item even if it is put inside my purse during the screening process? These are my three most valuable items I’m traveling with, so I just don’t want to put them in my checked bag.
Flying from LAX TO SAT (USA)
As long as you can put your camera inside your purse, you are good to go. If you were to carry your camera separately, you could be asked to consolidate your items or check one. This is not an issue determined by individual airlines within the U.S., but FAA policy which applies across the board. The TSA has additional restrictions on what can be brought onboard (specific limits on liquids). Individual air carriers may have slightly different dimensional limits on luggage.
