replacing oem starter with aftermarket?

ok, i have an ingersoll rand roller that the original starter has a 10 tooth gear on it. can i put a starter with a 13 tooth gear on it without causing any damage to the flywheel ring gear

No you can’t do it. Because the 10 tooth is a match to the number of teeth on the flywheel per inch and a 13 tooth will not catch without destroying your flywheel as it has a tighter spacing on the teeth.
